Brooking pushing for full-time Pearce

Stuart Pearce took the side to the European Championship semi-finals in Holland - where they lost to the hosts in an epic penalty shoot-out - and is set to discuss a full-time role with Soho Square officials.
"Stuart has enjoyed the role and we've got to sit down and make sure he's happy to do it on a full-time basis," said Brooking, the FA's director of football development, on BBC Radio Five Live. "If the FA can get the funding in place, it would be for them to try and take it forward on that basis. Everyone needs to try next week to resolve it."
Pearce's efforts appeared to impress the FA, with Steve McClaren, Brooking and chief executive Brian Barwick travelling to Heerenveen to watch the last-four clash with Holland.
After getting sacked at Manchester City the day after the Premier League season finished, Pearce is available for work and has already forged a relationship with nine players from the squad who will be available for the next campaign.
Brooking added: "He has done everything as far as I'm concerned. He's popular, I think he's handled all the issues - there have been a few sensitive ones - really well. His passion comes across from where I am, (and his) credibility in the role.
"The lads have responded. I think the spirit over the games - the last week or 10 days - has been fantastic.
"They ran right to the last drop and were very close to getting through. He deserves a lot of credit, as do the lads."
