Burrow and McGuire sign new contracts

Great Britain half-backs Rob Burrow and Danny McGuire have signed new five-year contracts that will keep them with engage Super League champions Leeds until the end of the 2013 season.

The new deals will take both 25-year-old players through to their 30th birthdays and ensure they finish their careers with their hometown club.

"This is fantastic news for the Rhinos and our future - Rob and Danny are world-class players," said Leeds coach Brian McClennan. "For them to commit their career to the club speaks volumes for them as individuals, but also about Leeds as a club."

He added: "The club have worked hard to create an environment that people do not want to leave, and that is a great message to give our young people.

"Both players have shown loyalty and commitment to the club - to spend your entire career at one club is something that should be admired in the modern era."

Burrow, who is certain to be scrum-half for England in next week's Gillette international against France, said: "This is the best club in the world - I don't want to be anywhere else.

"It is great playing and training alongside lads I grew up with, and that was certainly a factor when deciding on the new deal."

McGuire, who made his debut a year after Burrow in 2002, said: "I am really pleased to have got my future sorted out.

"I am 25 now and as a player your best years are probably between 25 and 30. I am happy to be playing those years of my career here at the Rhinos."
