Button thrilled by Brawn appointment

Jenson Button has described Ross Brawn's arrival at Honda as "the best thing that has happened in a long time".

The Briton's assessment of the former Ferrari technical director was revealed by chief executive Nick Fry, alongside whom Brawn will be working.

Fry said: "The announcement is a very satisfying conclusion to the process of refreshing and revitalising a strong and determined team."

He added: "Ross obviously needs no introduction. His experience of winning world titles in Formula One will be crucial as we seek to put Honda back into championship contention, and I am delighted that we will be working together to achieve that."

Brawn revealed he opted to join Honda after his year-long break because it represented more of a challenge than returning to Ferrari.

"The fact that Ferrari wasn't in crisis made it less attractive to me," Brawn said.

"They have done well and will do well and have got a good structure there to go forward with.

"My job now is to beat them."
