Cabrera shocked by major step

Angel Cabrera admitted he had exceeded even his own expectations by winning a gruelling US Open in Pennsylvania.

Cabrera finished one shot clear of former champions Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk to secure his first major title.

"I never thought this was possible," Cabrera said. "I feel great. It's a great moment for me, I can't believe it."

He continued: "I watched all the majors on TV when I was a kid and I never thought I would be here at this moment. It is very difficult to describe this moment.

"Probably when I wake up with this trophy beside me in my bed, I will realise that I have won the US Open."
