Campbell would welcome England return

McClaren is considering recalling the Portsmouth defender for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia next month with John Terry, Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King all injured.
Campbell, 32, has not played for England since the World Cup in 2006 but told the Sun: "If the call came I would be delighted. I am not going to turn my back on the chance to play for England again. If it is one game or 15 games it does not matter."
He added: "If the chance is there I will take it. I have had some great times playing for my country. I understand the situation because of injuries to certain players."
On Monday McClaren said he was considering recalling Campbell and his Portsmouth team-mate David James.
"It would be silly and foolish of me to dismiss David James and Sol Campbell," the England manager said.
"I never said I would do that and I have no intention of doing it and certainly, with the injuries we have, I am not dismissing the possibility of going to watch Portsmouth.
"You can't close the door on anyone in this job. I have brought players back in the past and as long as players want to be involved with England, that is great."
