The first goal at Molineux came when Matthew Jarvis took advantage of an error from David Marshall and pulled the ball back for Ebanks-Blake to score after 25 minutes.

A defensive slip at the other end let in Lee Croft to equalise seven minutes later and Carl Cort put Norwich ahead two minutes into the second half with a long-range effort.

That gave Norwich hope of repeating their 5-2 victory over Wolves from earlier in the season, but Ebanks-Blake grabbed his second of the night after 54 minutes to put Wolves back on level terms, then powered home two minutes later to complete his hat-trick with his 20th goal of the season.

The match swung again and for the final time when Gary Doherty levelled for the Canaries nine minutes later. The result left Wolves five points clear of second-placed Reading.

Ten-man Sheffield United grabbed a 2-1 win at Southampton thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Jamie Ward.

Greg Halford put United ahead against the run of play after 35 minutes. United were reduced to 10 men when Darius Henderson was adjudged to have used an elbow in a challenge with Jan Paul Saeijs five minutes before the break.

Southampton finally made their man advantage count when Andrew Surman levelled in the last minute with a fine half-volley, but Ward broke Saints' hearts with the winner moments later.

United's fellow play-off hopefuls Preston were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Plymouth. Jamie Mackie converted Paul Gallagher's corner to put the visitors ahead after 13 minutes but Jon Parkin levelled two minutes before the break after controlling well on his chest.

Dele Adebola's double helped Bristol City come from a goal down to beat rock-bottom Charlton 2-1. Tom Soares bravely nodded home Nick Bailey's cross to put the Addicks ahead just before the half-hour mark, but Adebola levelled from Liam Fontaine's angled cross four minutes into the second half and grabbed his second goal four minutes later.
