Capello: No problem with Redknapp

Fabio Capello says he does not have a problem with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp - or any other Premier League manager.

The two disagreed over the decision to call up Ledley King for the double- header against Slovakia and Ukraine, with Steven Gerrard's injury assessment also causing ructions with Liverpool.

But Capello said: "There is no problem with Redknapp. It is his right to talk. Overall there is good communication with the other managers. But I think I should be able to check all my players. I did it with Steven Gerrard last time and I wanted to do it with Ledley King this time."

He added: "I met three coaches when I saw Manchester United's game with Inter Milan and spoke about players.

"He (King) was not injured when he played for Tottenham last week and it was important for me to speak with him and hear what my own medical people say."

Capello is annoyed that Redknapp chose to make an issue of King when Alan Hutton did not even merit a mention when he was called up by Scotland, despite making just one reserve-team appearance after a four-month absence with a foot problem.

"Harry Redknapp has spoken about the England team but Alan Hutton is in the Scotland squad after being out for a number of months but that has not been mentioned," said Capello.

"I do not understand why this is the case."

Although Tottenham have opted not to respond publicly, club officials are unhappy at Capello's stance.

In pointing out that there had hardly been any contact with the FA in the build-up to King being chosen in Capello's 24-man squad on Sunday night, they also revealed Scotland boss George Burley had been in regular contact and had already reached an agreement with Redknapp over Hutton's position within the Scotland squad.
