Cash: Murray can stop Fed

Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash believes a fit Andy Murray can end Roger Federer's reign at the All England Club - but Cash has warned the British number one that he must only take his place in the tournament if medical advice indicates he has made a full recovery from his wrist injury.

Murray has been out since damaging tendons in his right hand at the Hamburg Open last month and is expected to make a final decision on whether to compete on Monday but Cash believes, if he finds his touch in the early rounds, Murray can go on to challenge four-times winner Federer.

The Australian said: "His first couple of matches will knock a bit of form into him, but he must take the experts' advice on his injury. He's got a long career ahead of him so there's no point taking any risks, but if he's in form and fit then he has a chance of winning Wimbledon. He's not far off the pace."

Cash acknowledges Federer and Rafael Nadal are favourites but does not expect last year's finalists to dominate this year with Andy Roddick, who won the Artois Championships, capable of making an impact.

"It seems to be bit of a two-horse race but I think it will pan out a bit differently from that," he said.

"Federer and Nadal are the two favourites, no doubt about it. But Andy Roddick potentially can challenge and don't write Murray off just yet."
