Chambers present for shock Tigers win

Dwain Chambers watched from the sanctuary of Castleford's main stand as the Tigers recorded a famous 30-24 victory over St Helens in an engage Super League thriller at The Jungle.

The disgraced sprinter - who has begun a month's trial with Super League's bottom club - was reduced to the role of spectator after Tigers coach Terry Matterson wisely decided he is not yet ready for his first taste of rugby league.

Chambers, 30, was treated to a compelling game and cannot fail to have been impressed as the players he has spent the past week training with outscored the Challenge Cup holders by six tries to four.

Inspired by a scintillating display from 18-year-old loose forward Joe Westerman - who touched down twice - the Tigers claimed the winning score in the closing stages when Luke Dorn pounced on an horrendous error from Saints full-back Paul Wellens.

In Sunday's other Super League clash, Ben Westwood was sent off as Warrington missed the chance to go second on a bleak day at Wakefield.

The second row was given his marching orders as snow and sleet fell in the second half, effectively ending the Wolves' hopes of battling back into a scrappy Belle Vue contest.

Tries from Scott Grix and Sam Obst, added to four Danny Brough goals, had already given the injury-ravaged Wildcats a healthy advantage and they held out thereafter with little problem.

The match rarely came to life, with referee Ashley Klein whistling for 24 penalties and issuing three yellow cards - one to Westwood - before the Warrington forward's red.
