Chanderpaul frustrates England

Shivnarine Chanderpaul continued his one-man battle with England's attack to guide West Indies to 287 all out in the final npower Test.

Chanderpaul claimed his second century in as many Tests to help halt West Indies' slide on the third day of the rain-hit Test at Chester-le-Street, finishing unbeaten on 136.

Resuming overnight on 132 for four, West Indies' innings looked set to be wrapped up soon after lunch after they lost three wickets for 10 runs to leave them on 229 for nine with Chanderpaul two runs short of his century. But the left-hander's defiance rubbed off on last man Corey Collymore, who resisted for 98 minutes and contributed 13 vital runs.

Their 58-run stand forced England into taking the second new ball and it took another 15 overs before they finally made the breakthrough, left-arm spinner Monty Panesar trapping Collymore lbw.

Ryan Sidebottom was the pick of the England attack, finishing with figures of five for 88.
