Chanderpaul frustrates England

Resuming the final day unbeaten on 16 with his side still 30 runs adrift of preventing an innings defeat, Chanderpaul used all his experience to defy England after Chris Gayle was out in the fifth over of the day.
The left-hander remained defiant and guided the tourists to an 18-run lead on 131 for four at lunch with an unbeaten 32, taking his time at the crease since he was last dismissed in this series to nearly 16 hours.
England had begun the final day, which was delayed by half an hour due to early morning rain, hopeful of wrapping up a comfortable victory and sealing a 3-0 series triumph.
First, though, they knew they had to break a determined 56-run stand between Chanderpaul and Gayle, who failed to add to his overnight 52 before swing bowler Matthew Hoggard struck.
Tempting Gayle into an aggressive drive outside off-stump, Hoggard found the edge and wicketkeeper Matt Prior snapped up the chance.
That was their last success of the reduced morning session, however, with all-rounder Dwayne Bravo following Chanderpaul's lead and resisting his natural instincts to attack and played a watchful innings.
