Chanderpaul inspires Windies

Shivnarine Chanderpaul became only the third player in Test history to score half-centuries in seven consecutive innings as West Indies made good progress on day two of the first Test against South Africa.

Chanderpaul reached 70 not out at lunch, accompanied by Darren Sammy's unbeaten 35, to help rebuild the innings after Makhaya Ntini had dismissed Dwayne Bravo and Denesh Ramdin early in the morning session.

The Windies recovered from that double blow to reach 357 for six at the interval, having begun the day on 281.
