Chilton steps down

The batsman, 31, led the Red Rose to the verge of their first County Championship since 1934 this summer before an agonising last-day defeat handed the title to Sussex.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the past three seasons and it has been an honour to have captained my home county," Chilton said. "This has been a very difficult decision for me, but I realise my form hasn't been what it should - and feel that in the best interests of the club and myself I should step down as captain."
After making his debut in 1997, Chilton replaced Warren Hegg as skipper in 2005 and immediately led Lancashire to the County Championship Division Two crown.
The county were also runners-up in the Twenty20 Cup and C&G Trophy under Chilton's leadership.
Chilton averaged just 28 in the County Championship last season and Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson sympathised with his decision.
He added: "I've enjoyed working closely with Chilly over the past three years - he has been a dedicated and passionate captain and I fully respect his decision to stand down to devote more time to his own cricket."
Discussions on Chilton's replacement will take place at the county's next Cricket Committee meeting on October 30.
