Choi holds on in Ohio

An impressive front nine holes on the final round paved the way for KJ Choi to win the Memorial tournament in Ohio.

The South Korean, who started the fourth round five strokes off the pace, picked up six birdies on the front nine to charge to the front in ideal conditions at Muirfield Village.

He struggled a little on the back nine, but did enough to hang on, one-putting the final three holes to post a seven-under-par 65 and finish on 17-under 271, one stroke ahead of former United States amateur champion Ryan Moore (66).

Overnight leader Rod Pampling faded with a 72 to tie for third with Kenny Perry (63), two shots behind.

It is the fifth PGA Tour victory for 37-year-old Choi, who came into the tournament with a series of solid performances under his belt recently.

Paul Casey was the best-placed Briton, finishing with a round of 72 for a five-under total, while fellow Englishman Luke Donald was a shot behind after a final round 70.
