Choi wins Sony Open title

KJ Choi fought off a spirited challenge from Rory Sabbatini to claim victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The Korean held a four-shot lead going into the final round but struggled in blustery conditions to a one-over round of 71 and finished on 14 under par.

Sabbatini, who started the day six shots adrift, carded a gutsy 68 which left him just three strokes behind Choi. Jerry Kelly (67) was a shot further back.

Choi, who picked up 954,000 US dollars (£487,000) for winning his seventh career PGA Tour title, has climbed to a personal best of seventh in the latest world rankings.
