Cipriani recovery continues at home

Wasps star Danny Cipriani has been released from hospital after undergoing ankle surgery.

The England fly-half is now at home, with Wasps describing his condition as "comfortable."

Cipriani was operated on by ankle specialist James Calder just hours after he suffered a fracture dislocation of his right ankle during Wasps' Guinness Premiership play-off victory over Bath on Sunday.

Cipriani, who will miss the Premiership final against Leicester on Saturday week and England's two-Test New Zealand tour next month, is battling to play again this year.

Wasps say the operation went "exceptionally well," and Cipriani's ankle will now remain elevated for a two-week period as part of the healing process.

He has been replaced in England's tour squad by Leicester centre Dan Hipkiss, with the fly-half vacancy against New Zealand likely to be filled by Charlie Hodgson or Olly Barkley.

Cipriani's Wasps colleague Tom Voyce, meanwhile, faces surgery on the dislocated left shoulder he suffered against Bath.

Former England wing Voyce had an MRI scan on Monday, was examined by a specialist on Tuesday and will now undergo surgery to stabilise the shoulder joint.

Voyce's rehabilitation programme is expected to last three months, with the hope of him regaining full fitness in time for the start of next season.
