City continue perfect start

Emmanuel Adebayor's second-half header helped Manchester City continue their outstanding start to the season with a 4-2 victory over Arsenal.

City went ahead when Micah Richards' header found the net via the post and Manuel Almunia's head before Robin van Persie levelled after the break.

However, a flurry of City goals from Craig Bellamy, Adebayor and Shaun Wright-Phillips ensured that Tomas Rosicky's late effort was merely a consolation.

City took the lead when Gareth Barry's curling free-kick was headed towards goal by Richards. Almunia pushed the ball onto a post, then helplessly turned it home as the ball cannoned straight back towards him.

The momentum definitely changed following Rosicky's introduction for Denilson, Arsenal's passing becoming more threatening, their attacks presenting more obvious danger.

Rosicky collected Bacary Sagna's short pass and fed the ball calmly through to van Persie. Joleon Lescott lunged, but Van Persie simply skipped past him and drove home.

But it turned again when Richards cut inside Alex Song after receiving Wright-Phillips' pass and found Bellamy, who swept home to City's glee.

And when Wright-Phillips sent over a vicious cross, Adebayor had no intention other than to find the net, which he duly did, sending a capacity crowd into ecstasy.

His reaction to the goal, racing the full length of the field to celebrate right in front of the Arsenal fans, earned him a booking and may attract further punishment from the FA.

But City survived a breathless finale in which Wright-Phillips stretched their lead before Rosicky pulled one back and van Persie hit a post.
