City new boys rested

Manchester City's new strikers Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz will sit out the friendly against Barnsley on Saturday.

Manager Mark Hughes has decided not to risk the pair, with Tevez recovering from a foot injury and Santa Cruz a knee problem.

Hughes said: "Carlos is probably a week away and Roque a bit longer than that."

"But they are progressing well and there is no undue concern about them in terms of their fitness levels," he added.

Defender Micah Richards could get a run-out after a bout of swine flu, and Hughes added: "He is looking very strong and seems very focused."
