Clark can talk to Norwich - Newcastle

Norwich have named Lee Clark as assistant to new manager Glenn Roeder.

Clark has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Carrow Road after leaving Newcastle and admits the chance to link up again with the former Magpies boss was too good to miss.

"I have worked with him before (at Newcastle) and when he asked me to think about coming down and joining him at Norwich it was a decision I couldn't turn down," said Clark.

He added: "It was a tough decision but to come and work alongside someone like Glenn again was the perfect opportunity for me and to be given the role of assistant manager means he's shown a lot of faith in me."

Roeder gave the tough-tackling midfielder his first coaching role after taking over from Graeme Souness at St James' Park and he has been quick to install him ahead of Sunday's derby with Ipswich.

"I'm looking forward to it. It's a fantastic start, a local derby and there will be lots of passion and pride at stake," Clark told the club's website www.canaries.co.uk.
