The Durham all-rounder will start his reign as one-day skipper in two Twenty20 and three limited-overs internationals against the West Indies during the next 10 days.

"The aim is to get the team thinking we can win the next World Cup when we go into it," said Collingwood. "I am trying to build an atmosphere in the dressing room where everyone is going out there and believing in themselves."

He added: "So far the attitude has been fantastic. I have got a great young set of boys together here and the enthusiasm and the energy that you need in the one-day game has been evident in practice, and that's a great sign.

"I'm not saying the energy levels were terrible during the World Cup. What it came down to during the World Cup was consistency and performances which we didn't quite achieve."
