The visitors found themselves chasing the game with Ricardo Gardner opening the scoring for Bolton after two minutes.
Nico Kranjcar dragged Spurs level only for Kevin Davies to put the home side back in the driving seat.
The visitors went into the match without a win in nine attempts at the ground and fell behind in the second minute to a Ricardo Gardner goal, after failing to deal with a long throw from Jlloyd Samuel.
But Spurs levelled when Wilson Palacios delivered the ball to Peter Crouch, who nodded it on and Niko Kranjcar sent a stunning shot into the net.
Tottenham were left badly exposed on the stroke of half-time when Matt Taylor sprung the offside trap. He homed in on goal but Carlo Cudicini was alert to the danger and was happy to concede a corner.
The visitors should have taken the lead in the 55th minute following a blistering run from Aaron Lennon, who fired in a shot that Jussi Jaaskelainen did well to beat away. The ball fell to Palacios six yards out - but the midfielder sent his effort closer to the corner flag than the goal.
Jermain Defoe, suffering from two dislocated fingers, came on in the 67th minute for the ineffective Robbie Keane.
Bolton then took the lead when Tamir Cohen chipped the ball to the back post and Davies headed in his third goal of the campaign.
Tottenham almost drew level in the 72nd minute after Jaaskelainen spilled a shot from Defoe. The ball landed kindly at the feet of Crouch but his effort hit the bar. However, it was 2-2 a minute later, when the unmarked Vedran Corluka headed high into the net.http://www.bwfc.premiumtv.co.uk(Bolton's official website)
