West Ham have received some negative comments in the past few days after their £5.5m fine for dealings with Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
Curbishley said: "Ahead of this game, we said 'can we grab our chance against Wigan?'. I wonder if we will have some positive stuff. We'll have to see."
Paul Jewell has questioned the Premier League's judgment following their decision not to deduct West Ham points in relation to transfer irregularities.
West Ham were fined a record £5.5m for their handling of the signings of duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
Jewell said: "Please don't think this is sour grapes, if it had been Wigan or Watford, or if West Ham had been down, then points would have been taken off."
