Dallaglio: Wales can cope

Lawrence Dallaglio has tipped Wales to make a significant impact at the World Cup despite losing influential number eight Ryan Jones to a shoulder injury.

Wales head coach Gareth Jenkins is well-disposed in the back row, with Colin Charvis, Michael Owen and Alix Popham all capable of starting at number eight - and Dallaglio still backs Wales to impress in the tournament but will not want them to make too much of an impression.

He said: "One man's disappointment is another man's opportunity and I am sure, while Ryan will be feeling disappointed, there will be another player within that camp who will be relishing the opportunity of filling his boots."

He added: "I see Wales as a very competitive side who have a wonderful opportunity of progressing to the latter stages.

"They will take heart from their experience in Australia (on the summer tour) and I am sure they will be going out to try to win their group."
