Davies agrees new Rams deal
03 January 2007
The Scot signed a three-year deal when he joined the Rams last summer from Preston but, after guiding them to promotion via the play-offs, has put an end to speculation over his future by extending the deal by 12 months.
Chairman Peter Gadsby said: "Over the last few weeks we have been in discussions with Billy over his contract and we're delighted to announce he has agreed an extension to 2010. That is very good news and I would say it is like another new signing."
Davies, who last week signed striker Robert Earnshaw for a club-record £3.5million form Norwich, has also appointed Canadian Colin Miller as first-team coach and former Scotland boss Craig Brown - who Davies was previously assistant boss to at Preston - as football consultant.
Davies said: "Craig Brown has a wealth of football contacts and football knowledge which I am keen to tap into.
"We are very keen to open up the European market for players and Craig will be invaluable in helping us exploit that market.
"I've also appointed Colin as first-team coach, somebody whose career I have followed very closely.
"He's a fantastic coach with coaching experience across the world."
