Demetriou signs new deal

Wakefield Wildcats captain Jason Demetriou has signed a 12-month contract extension that will keep him at Belle Vue until the end of the 2008 season.

The 31-year Australian has become a fans favourite since joining the club from Widnes three years ago and, after helping them avoid relegation last season, is an ever-present in Super League XII.

Coach John Kear said: "At the end of last season Jason proved himself to be a true leader and, as captain this season, he's been one of our most consistent performers. We are delighted to have secured his services for next season."
