Novak Djokovic crashed out of the Masters Cup in Shanghai on Tuesday after suffering his second successive defeat in the Gold Group.

The Serbian has enjoyed a successful year, rising to third in the world rankings, but his bid to win the end-of-season showpiece came to an abrupt end following a straight-sets defeat to Richard Gasquet.

The Frenchman won 6-4 6-2 to keep alive his hopes of advancing to the semi-finals after losing his opening game to Rafael Nadal.
