Dorrans set for new contract

West Brom midfielder Graham Dorrans is set to sign a new contract with the midlands club - less than a year after making the switch from Livingston.

Baggies boss Tony Mowbray is optimistic Dorrans will put pen to paper after being impressed by the Scotland Under-21 international.

Mowbray told PA Sport: "Hopefully we will be agreeing a new deal with Graham very shortly. I would suggest that is imminent."

He added: "It is great credit to the boy that he has earned a new contract.

"This year he has taken huge strides and broken into the team and he warrants the contract that has been offered to him which he is more than happy to sign.

"Hopefully if it is the start of his journey with Albion and it will be a long and successful one. He is showing he has the potential to be a decent footballer."

Dorrans spent five years at Livingston, scoring 20 goals in 91 appearances, before agreeing to join Albion last summer in a £100,000 deal which could eventually rise to £150,000.

Mowbray has also run the rule over another Livingston player in striker Leigh Griffiths during a recent trial spell with West Brom.

The former Hibernian boss said: "Leigh can score goals. He is a very clinical finisher. The relationship between the two clubs allowed him to come here recently for a few days. He is a young boy with potential.

"But we have got other things on our plate we are trying to work away with and we will look at all the different situations when the time is right."
