Dragons choose Walters

Catalans Dragons have appointed former Australian hooker Kevin Walters as their new coach for next season.

The 40-year-old ex-Canberra and Brisbane player will join the French Super League club on a three-year-contract as successor to Mick Potter, who is joining St Helens at the end of the year.

Walters, who also played for Warrington, is due to link up with the Perpignan club by the end of October in time for their pre-season camp in the first week of November.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge of coaching the Catalans Dragons for the next three seasons," he said.

"It's such a wonderful opportunity for me and I'm excited to be a part of one of the newest rugby league clubs in the world.

"After meeting with the club last week I had a great feeling about their passion and vision for the game, which I found very attractive and complimented my views.

"My family are also very excited to the move to the south of France and become part of the local way of life."
