Dravid puts the brakes on England

India captain Rahul Dravid produced a go-slow as India ground out time in their bid to clinch the npower Test series against England.

Faced with a situation of 11 for three in the second innings, Dravid mustered only a couple of runs from his first 52 deliveries as India batted in overcast conditions.

Former captain Sourav Ganguly played in stark contrast, however, to hit a half-century from 53 deliveries. His positive approach propelled India to 76 for three, an overall advantage of 395, after Dravid opted not to enforce the follow-on.

Anil Kumble moved into third place in Test cricket's leading wicket-takers in wrapping up England's innings in fewer than eight overs on Sunday morning.

But India also lost early wickets at the Brit Oval after wrist-spinner Kumble trapped Monty Panesar leg before wicket, his 564th victim, to overtake Australian great Glenn McGrath on the list.

England were bundled out for 345 and then took the field without Ryan Sidebottom, who is nursing a sore left side.

New-ball pair James Anderson and Chris Tremlett got the capacity crowd excited before a rain shower guaranteed an early lunch.

Anderson's first success of two came in fortunate manner as he gained another lbw decision to account for Wasim Jaffer.

South African umpire Ian Howell took a long time to raise his finger after Jaffer was struck on the flap of the pads, offering no shot, the ball appearing to be going over the top of the stumps.

Giant paceman Tremlett then found the edge of Dinesh Karthik's bat to provide a smart catch for Paul Collingwood at second slip.
