It all starts tonight in the Faroe Islands against EB/Streymur in the UEFA Cup first qualifying round, first leg. And although there is a long way to go for new boss Mark Hughes and his men, there is a strong determination to take the club to a new level.
Defender Dunne said: "I have never been to the Faroes before and all of us are looking forward to the game and this competition. A European run is something we have been looking for at this club over the last few years."
He continued: "Now we are here we do not intend to waste the opportunity we have been given by qualifying via the Fair Play League.
"We have got a chance to progress and push on as a club, but we have to be very professional about this and make sure we do not slip up here.
"It will be a tough game because it is such a big occasion for them. They will have everything to play for and we have to be careful.
"But we are here to win and we want to get through these early rounds. We will be very disappointed if we do not win here."
Hughes will take charge of his first competitive game for the club and intends to draw a line under the failed bid to sign Ronaldinho and to bring a handful of top-quality Premier League players to Eastlands instead.
He said: "We have a hell of a lot of the transfer window open to us, this has not set us back very much. We have not missed out on other targets.
"There are players we would like to bring into the club and we will try to do that."
