Duo follow Sven from City

Manchester City have confirmed that Hans Backe and Tord Grip have left their posts as assistant manager and first team coach respectively in the wake of Sven-Goran Eriksson's departure.

The Swedish manager's exit from Eastlands was confirmed on Monday after weeks of speculation, with representatives of owner Thaksin Shinawatra immediately seeking, and obtaining, permission from Blackburn to talk to Mark Hughes about the possibility of taking over.

Chief executive Alistair Mackintosh told www.mcfc.co.uk : "Both Hans and Tord made a positive impact on those involved with Manchester City over the course of the season. We thank them for their contribution and wish them every success in the future."
