Duo keep America on top

Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum ensured the United States remained top of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup leaderboard for the second consecutive day after carding a three-under-par 69 in the foursomes.

After an impressive 11-under 61 during the fourballs format on Thursday, the duo shot five birdies against two bogeys and hold a one-stroke lead over England's Justin Rose and Ian Poulter and Scotland's Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren.

Retief Goosen and Trevor Immelman combined to card a three-under 69 to give South Africa sole possession of fourth place, while Germany, Italy and Denmark are all tied for fifth.

The USA had been criticised by some for not sending a higher ranked pairing but Weekley, 43rd in the world rankings, and Slocum, 70th, proved their first-day showing was no one-off to keep the United States on target for a potential 24th World Cup victory.
