The announcement comes just days after Unsworth's penalty against Sheffield United helped the Latics avoid relegation from the Barclays Premiership.
New Wigan manager Chris Hutchings was quick to praise the pair after their contributions to the club, telling the club's website, www.wiganlatics.co.uk: "Unsy has only been with us for a few months, and he did a brilliant job for us when called upon. His goal against Sheffield United will live long in the memory and its significance can never be underestimated."
He added: "I wish him all the best for the future.
Dutchman De Zeeuw, 37, made 203 appearances for the club in two stints and Hutchings said: "Arjan has been a wonderful servant to Wigan Athletic, a true leader on and off the field and has been a major player for us in two spells here, and I've been privileged to work with him during both.
"He is definitely one of the best professionals I have ever work with during my time in football and I wish him all the best in the future."
