Leeds have suffered a blow to hopes of defending their engage Super League title just two matches into the season after new signing Greg Eastwood was denied a UK work visa.

The New Zealand international, who was set to begin a three-year contract with the Rhinos after agreeing to move to Headingley from Australian National Rugby League side Brisbane Broncos in August last year, informed Leeds of the decision on Friday night.

The 21-year-old was denied a visa by the British Embassy in Canberra - a decision believed to be on the grounds of a previous driving condition - and plans to appeal.
