ECB begin search for Morgan successor

The England and Wales Cricket Board have opened a two-week window for nominations as they search for David Morgan's successor as chairman.

Morgan was announced as the long-term replacement for the late Percy Sonn as the president of the International Cricket Council and his replacement will take office from October 1.

Nominations are open from Monday and will close on July 23.

If there is just one nomination then ECB will ask for the 18 first-class counties, the MCC, the Minor Counties Cricket Association and the non first-class county boards to endorse the candidate - a process that would end on August 13.

An election, conducted by the Electoral Reform Society, will proceed if there is more than one nomination, with the ballot closing on August 13 and the endorsement process closing on August 28.

The successful candidate will serve until March 31, 2009, with Hampshire's Rod Bransgrove, Surrey chief executive Paul Sheldon and ECB Board member Sir Bill Morris all potential candidates.
