An own goal from Hearts captain Christophe Berra under pressure from opposite number Rob Jones gave the home side a half-time lead.
But striker Nade's equaliser 50 seconds after the restart allowed Hearts to peg their city rivals back to earn a deserved draw. Both teams had chances to find a winner in the second half, and Hibernian frontman Steven Fletcher had a close-range header disallowed because of a push.
Despite Hearts beginning the stronger, Hibernian took the lead in the 18th minute. Felipe Morais sent in a low corner from the right and Jones stretched his left leg across marker Andrius Velicka, however the ball appeared to spin in at the near post via Hearts captain Berra.
Berra then denied Mickael Antoine-Curier with a magnificent last-ditch tackle as the hosts sought to press home their advantage.
A quick break from Hibernian almost brought them a second goal in injury-time as Guillaume Beuzelin dispossessed Velicka and ran the length of the pitch before playing in Fletcher. However, the striker's cute chip was brilliantly saved by Anthony Basso and as play raced to the other end Yves Ma-Kalambay's outstretched foot denied Velicka.
Hearts enjoyed the perfect start to the second half as they drew level within 50 seconds of the kick-off.
Jones conceded a sloppy corner which was taken by Michael Stewart and drifted through to Driver on the other side of the area. Driver's cross was nodded on by Audrius Ksanavicius - the smallest player on the pitch - and bundled in by the thigh of the lurking Nade from four yards.
Hibernian looked stunned by Hearts' early riposte and the visitors were clearly encouraged by gaining parity. Driver should have put Hearts in front in the 64th minute but shot too high, and then Beuzelin's header from Fletcher's corner was knocked off the line by Velicka seconds later.
Hibernian thought they had regained the lead in the 66th minute but Fletcher's header from Murphy's cross was disallowed following a push on Berra, as both sides failed to find a winner.
