Ellis hit by injury blow

Leeds forward Gareth Ellis has been ruled out for three weeks after X-rays revealed he has broken his thumb in two places.

Ellis, 26, suffered the injury in the home defeat to Wigan a fortnight ago, although he played throughout that game and was in the Rhinos side that beat Warrington last week before limping off with an ankle injury.

"It was painful but nothing too bad - then it started to get worse so I mentioned it to the club doctor," said Ellis. "He sent me for a scan straight away which showed up a double fracture."

Ellis will miss the Millennium Magic derby with Bradford on May 3 as well as his side's Challenge Cup opener with Celtic Crusaders and next week's engage Super League game against Hull KR.
