Els hit by virus

Ernie Els has been forced to withdraw from this week's Houston Open with a virus.

"I am very disappointed to have been forced to make this decision because I was really looking forward to playing this week," said Els.

"The Shell Houston Open was going to be an important part of my build-up towards The Masters, but I have been advised that it would not be in my best interests to play."

He added: "I am very sorry to disappoint the organisers in Houston, but hope to play in their prestigious event in the future."
