Emerton signs Rovers deal

Blackburn utility man Brett Emerton has signed a new four-year contract.

The deal will keep the Australian, who joined Rovers from Feyenoord in 2003, at Ewood Park until 2012.

Chairman John Williams told the club's website, rovers.co.uk: "Brett has been an excellent servant over the last five years and we are delighted to have agreed a deal which keeps him here for another four years."

"This is great news for the club," he added.

"He's a very willing member of the squad and a real club man."
