England close in on victory

Monty Panesar bowled England into a winning position in the final npower Test today after Shivnarine Chanderpaul once again led West Indies' battle for survival.

England's premier left-arm spinner was introduced after lunch at Chester-le-Street and claimed three wickets in 24 balls to leave the tourists struggling just 75 runs ahead on 194 for nine.

Paceman Steve Harmison also chipped in with two wickets, including a superb full-length delivery which ripped out Fidel Edwards' off-stump, but Chanderpaul resisted with an unbeaten half-century.
