England duo force Windies collapse

Left-arm duo Monty Panesar and Ryan Sidebottom combined to send West Indies crashing for 229 in the third Test at Old Trafford.

England gained a 141-run lead after a collapse from their opponents, who lost their final six wickets for only 13 runs.

Sidebottom began the 44-ball spell when, in his first over of a new spell, Dwayne Bravo edged behind.

Denesh Ramdin miscued a pull and when Shivnarine Chanderpaul drove straight to cover for an even 50 West Indies were 225 for nine.

Panesar's share of the final half-a-dozen to fall all came via catches around the bat with Corey Collymore edging to Paul Collingwood at slip to finish things.

Panesar, who earlier claimed Devon Smith as his 50th Test victim, finished with figures of four for 50.
