England make steady progress

England overcame the loss of two early wickets on the first morning of the third npower Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge to reach the lunch break on 84 for two.

Alastair Cook was bowled by Kyle Mills via an inside edge, while Iain O'Brien nipped one back between bat and pad to clean bowl England skipper Michael Vaughan for 16.

Although the swinging ball made life difficult for the batsmen, Andrew Strauss (37 not out) was looking fluent, while Kevin Pietersen had progressed to 15no.
