Following lengthy discussions between the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Professional Cricketers' Association, England's top players will now be able to participate in some of this year's IPL tournament, which takes place from April 10 to May 29, following the conclusion of this winter's one-day series against West Indies on April 3.

All the players will be required to return before the first Test at Lord's this summer against West Indies, which starts on May 7.

Tuesday's announcement represents a compromise from both sides, with the ECB initially offering just a two-week window, while the IPL had wanted England's players available for a month.

ECB chief executive David Collier said: "The discussions held between our respective boards have been most productive and ECB is grateful to the president and honorary secretary of BCCI for the excellent relationship which has been developed with the BCCI on a wide ranging number of issues.

"Our agreement is good for the players, the respective boards, our counties and for cricket. We look forward to welcoming India, the reigning ICC World Twenty20 champions, to England for the ICC World Twenty20 this summer and for the tour of England and Wales in 2011."

As part of the deal, every player who signs an IPL agreement will have to give 10 per cent of their earnings to their county, while the two boards have also agreed to schedule Test and one-day series every four years.
