England vow to be careful with players

The England players stand to win US$1million (£570,000) each if they beat the Stanford select XI in Antigua on November 1 and with such an unprecedented windfall at stake, some players may be tempted to keep quiet if they pick up a niggle in the days or weeks ahead of the big game.
But after announcing the 15-man squad, England cricket's managing director Hugh Morris said: "Our medical support team is as good as any in sport and we are confident we have the safeguards in place. We have stringent protocols and have had for some time."
The squad announced at Lord's contained no surprises. Steve Harmison was included after a successful return to one-day action in the NatWest Series win over South Africa.
The Durham pace bowler had originally asked not to be considered for the Stanford Super Series because he did not want people to think he had come out of retirement for financial reasons.
But national selector Geoff Miller told him England would pick a squad for the India tour and the Stanford Super Series on cricketing merit alone.
Miller explained: "Steve Harmison did say he didn't want to play in Stanford early on. He didn't want to be seen to be coming back into the side just for financial reasons - but we want him to be in it and his results this year in both kinds of cricket show it's the right decision.
"We said 'we'll pick this side on cricketing factors and not on monetary factors'. We took the decision out of his hands and made it for him."
