Eriksson staying with Mexico

After Tony Adams was sacked as Portsmouth manager on Monday Eriksson has been strongly linked with the post along with former Chelsea boss Avram Grant.
"I always said I have contract until 2010, after the World Cup. In football, you never know what will happen but I have a contract and I want to win tomorrow (in Mexico's World Cup qualifier against the USA. I have always said that Mexico will be in South Africa," said Eriksson.
"It's very important to start winning but I don't think that my future depends on getting a good result tomorrow, life will go on. If we lose, we will have nine more games to qualify to the World Cup. But I repeat: I'm not thinking about a defeat."
Chelsea are also in the search for a new manager following the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari also on Monday, although Russia coach Guus Hiddink has started negotiations over taking charge until the end of the season.
Eriksson did confirm Chelsea's Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich does have his phone number.
"I know he has my number and I certainly haven't spoken with him," added Eriksson.
After England were knocked out of the 2006 World Cup, a year later Eriksson took over as Manchester City boss prior to the start of the 2007/08 season.
But he lasted just one season and on June 2 last year left City by "mutual consent" before being named as Mexico manager just a day later.
