Evra fury at ban

The France full-back was found guilty of improper conduct by the Football Association a fortnight ago, leading to a terse statement from Manchester United on Tuesday confirming there would be no appeal but outraged at the way Evra's case has been handled.
And while Evra agrees with the club stance not to appeal the decision, he is still not happy with outcome and told MUTV: "I am very angry about it because I didn't touch anybody. Yet I have a four-game ban. But now I am just focusing on the Club World Cup because I want to a world champion."
The FA ruled Evra attacked Chelsea groundsman Sam Bethell after an angry exchange during the United warm-down.
There was no evidence Bethell had made a racist comment as was originally alleged, with the inference that Evra had struck Bethell on the head.
The former Monaco player strongly denies the allegation and he has received firm backing from United chief executive David Gill who, despite being an FA board member, spoke out against the disciplinary panel that imposed the punishment.
"We looked at the situation carefully and discussed it with Alex (Ferguson) and Patrice himself," said Gill.
"We were very disappointed by the size of the ban. We thought it was disproportionate and a poor decision.
"But we felt, given the games he would miss, the issues surrounding an appeal and the distraction it would cause at a key stage in the season, it would be better to take it on the chin and move on.
"Patrice is a wonderful character and I believe him 100% when he says he never hit the groundsman. He has our full support."
