The 24-year-old was targeted by the travelling supporters, whose abuse included Islamophobic chants during the 2-2 draw at the Riverside Stadium.
Mido was booked for the way he celebrated his 28th-minute goal in front of the Newcastle fans, and manager Gareth Southgate later questioned why thousands of people were allowed to verbally attack one man, while he could not react.
The Football Association have confirmed they will look into the matter and a spokesman said: "We will be contacting both clubs for their observations on these events and we will take it from there."
However, Boro revealed they will be taking no further action over the chants, which they hope will not be repeated by supporters of other clubs.
Spokesman Dave Allan said: "We very much hope that there is no repeat of these chants in the future, but as far as we are concerned, the matter is now closed."
Newcastle were not commenting on the matter.
