Faye has signed a three-year deal at the Britannia Stadium after spending a year on Tyneside. The arrival of the 30-year-old defender follows the earlier signing of Senegalese compatriot Amdy Faye.
Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes said: "Abdoulaye is a fantastic player with top-flight experience in abundance.
He added: "We have worked extremely hard to conclude the deal, and we are absolutely delighted to have signed a player of his quality."
Earlier Amdy Faye joined the Potters for an undisclosed fee from Championship side Charlton.
The 31-year-old joined on a 12-month deal after impressing during training while on a week-long trial with the club.
Manager Tony Pulis told www.stokecityfc.co.uk: "He's very strong and athletic, and he has important experience at the top level we can call upon."
He added: "I've liked the look of him in training and also liked his attitude in the few days he's been with us.
"I think he did well in the short time he was on the pitch in last week's friendly against Osasuna."
