Federer levels in final

Rafael Nadal drew first blood in his Australian Open men's final clash with arch rival Roger Federer but the Swiss pulled level with a battling display in the second set.

Nadal took the first set 7-5 as he seeks his first grand slam in Melbourne, but Federer came out firing and tied the match by taking the second 6-3.

The decisive game came in the eighth but Nadal dug deep to stave off five break points before Federer came forward and the Spaniard could only find the net with his backhand leaving the scores level.
