Federer ready to reel in Sampras

Roger Federer quickly set his sights on overhauling Pete Sampras' record of 14 major titles after claiming his 13th with a straight sets US Open final victory over Andy Murray in New York on Monday.

Federer, who had lost his number one world ranking to Rafael Nadal and both his Australian Open and Wimbledon titles in 2008, ended the grand slam year on a high with a 6-2 7-5 6-2 victory in one hour and 51 minutes.

"One thing's for sure - I'm not going to stop at 13," said Federer. "But there's a great bunch of guys behind and in front of me like Andy. He's done great the last couple of weeks and I'm sure there's much more of Andy in the future as well."
